It is August which means it is my birthday month. Ask any Lioness that you know and she too, will likely tell you her birthday lasts a month. It is how we do.
August is my favorite month. Not just because it is my birthday month although I do LOVE celebrating… but because it is the hottest month of the year and if you know me at all, you know how much I LOVE the heat, like a true sun worshipping Leo.
Summers in Portland feel a bit like a frantic race to see how you can fit everything you ever wanted to do in 3 short months. The 9 months of rain breed this scarcity mindset and as much as I try, I have yet to be able to relax into it. I already see the end in sight and it makes me sad.
That is not very Mindful of me, I know. And I also know that I thrive in the warmth of the sun and until I find a way to leave Portland in the winters, I will probably live this dual reality of happy summers and sad winter blues.
But enough about the weather!
I am dropping in to share a little bit about what I have been up to and about some upcoming events we have planned.
In 2020, I set out to “heal” and here I am 4 years later and totally healed! Kidding. As we know, healing is a lifetime journey and I am here for it.
I just returned from a week long retreat with the intention of healing old traumas, a stubborn nervous system, anxiety and deep feelings of unworthiness and shame and a constant fear of loss and abandonment. I learned SO MUCH and feel incredibly resourced, full of gratitude and am holding a tender, but open heart.
Mindfulness Meditation was the first step in my healing and taught me SO MUCH about the inner workings of my mind. It was the catalyst for my transformation and I am so grateful for the teachings and wisdoms and my mentors, Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach.
I went on to participate in Ketamine Assisted Therapy, Psilocybin Microdosing, Shamanic Healing, Energy Work, Financial Wellness Coaching, Business Coaching, Breathwork, Embodiment Dance Classes, Plant medicine group ceremonies and lots of reading, listening to podcasts and sharing with loved ones. You could say “I’ve been on one”.
I feel it is my life mission to heal old traumas, grief, shame and limiting beliefs.
And I believe it is my life’s work to guide others on their healing paths.
My next steps towards stepping into the role of Healing Mindfulness Coach feels like walking down a foggy, windy road without a road map. And I am ok with that.
In the meantime, please reach out to me if you have questions or are looking for support or resources. Eventually I will be adding Community Coaching Hours and one one one coaching.
I just signed up for the Trauma Informed Weightlifting Certification and am working with a beloved colleague who is mentoring me on practices of Embodiment.
Weight training truly is a modality that has the power to heal us from trauma if done mindfully and in an informed way.
How can we move mindfully if we are in a state of fight or flight? That is where the embodiment practices come in.
Anyways, these are a couple of the things that I am excited to bring to the studio soon.
More Mindfulness!
More Meditation!
More Embodiment!
More Dance!
More Breath-work!
More Plant Medicine!
More Coaching!
I hope you are all enjoying your summer and getting some time to rest, play, travel, laugh, and heal.
Much love,
Coach Kim
